Health Benefits of Green Tea

I always look forward to my afternoon cup of green tea. I never thought I would be a tea drinker, but after drinking it more and more, I enjoy the taste. Part of the reason I began to drink green tea was because I have always heard it is good for you, good for your health. But to be honest, until now, I never really knew why it was good for me. So I did a little research and learned this:

Green tea is the most popular tea from China. It has the least amount of caffeine than all teas and provides the most amount of phytonutrients (plant nutrients). Green tea provides high level of antioxidants and anticancer fighting effects through catechin polyphenols, specifically EGCG. This inhibits the growth of cancer cells and kills them without harming healthy tissue. Green tea has been found to aid in lowering cholesterol levels and the formation of blood clots. A European study done in 2006, found tea to be a healthier option than almost any beverage because it not only rehydrates an individual, it protects against heart disease. Many studies have also shown that green tea can help in weight loss. Not only do polyphenols provide antioxidant and anticancer effects, they can stimulate the body to burn calories and decrease body fat.

These are some of the many health benefits of green tea! Many studies can be found online that outline other health benefits.

Make sure to sit and enjoy your cup of green tea today!!

Ways To Stay Healthy When Travelling

It is so easy to succomb to the “travelling lifestyle” where you are waited on and everything is made and/or delivered to you. It is really important to try and incorporate a few extra healthy habits when abroad, so that your healthy lifestyle isn’t completely ignored on vacation.

First off, try making some of your own food while on vacation. This might be a tricky thing to do at an all-inclusive resort, but if you are staying at a hotel try and get one with a mini kitchen therefore you can monitor exactly how and what you are consuming.

Always try and get in the full amount of fruits and vegetable per day. When travelling, we often dine out and resist the normalcy of eating veggies with our meals. Do what it takes to include them. Your body will thank you.

Remember to exercise! Don’t get into the relaxation mode of vacationing and forget that your body needs to move. Some of the most beautiful runs I have ever been on were in Mexico along with beach, early in the morning; absolutely breathtaking. Most all-inclusive resorts have fitness classes and many other tour trips and self guided vacations give you the opportunity to walk from one historic site to the next.

Use a reuable water bottle when you travel, instead of always buying bottled water. Remember the only reason you’re travelling is because our world is in-tact. Don’t fill it with waste.

Always check the directory of airports you will be stopping in for the restaurant listing. Decide ahead of time where you will eat; this will avoid overeating and poor last minute meal choices.

Pack smart. Bring snacks in your luggage that you can have if hunger strikes. This will also allow you to spend less and control your eating more!

Travelling is a wonderful thing; the world is amazing. Happy travels.
